I enjoyed a fabulous day of cycling and touring thanks to Routes. I emailed Routes ahead of my trip to ABQ and requested a custom tour of the city. They replied promptly with a proposed itinerary. I joined their daily morning Bosque tour, which was fabulous and included lots of information from our wonderful tour guide about Old Town, the Bosque trail, and other interesting points along our ride.
Our guide took us into several “nooks and crannies” I would have missed had I simply rented a bike and gone alone. I had trouble with the admittedly super-cute yellow-wheeled cruisers because I am not used to pedaling backward to brake. But no problem – Routes cheerfully traded my cruiser for a much more familiar feeling hybrid bike for the afternoon portion of my guided adventure.
I had a pleasant lunch with the tour guide and another tour rider from that morning, and then I was off to explore the city alone with my own personal tour guide. We biked in the foothills of the Sandias (the highlight of my day) cut back across town on the paseo de montana and several other wonderful dedicated bike paths; we hit the university area, Nob Hill, downtown, and finally back to good ol’ Routes.
Toward the day’s end, as we were soaring along a dedicated bike path overlooking I-40 and an amazing skyline vista, I was thinking of how much I wished I lived here.
My Routes tour guide knew everything about the city and shared ton of interesting information with me wherever we went.
Thank you Routes, for such great service. I’ll be back, and I recommend Route’s daily tours and custom tours to anyone wanting to explore the city on two wheels.
