Distance from Routes via bicycle: 30 Minutes
The Rio Grande River (or “Paseo del Bosque”) Bike Trail winds lazily south beneath beautiful foliage directly to the city’s Biological Park, Aquarium, and Tingley Beach area. This triplex is an excellent way to spend an afternoon, and offers diverse amenities for adults and children alike.
Enjoy a pleasant afternoon at Tingley Beach, a newly-renovated civic space with duck ponds, fishing, play-areas, beach sand, and other amenities. Walk or ride directly to the tree-lined banks of the Rio Grande, and watch for the beautiful Sandhill Cranes that migrate through this area en-masse during the spring, fall, and winter. Ride directly between the Botanic Gardens / Aquarium and the Zoo (collectively known as the “Bio Park”), or park your bike for a few hours and journey between these venues on a miniature locomotive operated by the City.
Albuquerque’s biological complex features diverse animal, reptile, and avian habitats (the Rio Grande Zoo); 36 acres of international-styled gardens and conservations; a demonstration farm; a butterfly pavilion; an aquarium complex; and several venues that offer weekly live music during the summer months. This area can easily keep locals and visitors occupied for several days, and your Routes bicycle is the perfect companion for ultimate flexibility and enjoyment.
