Routes Bicycle Rentals Tour of the Rio Grande Bosque River Trail Albuquerque, New Mexico by bike.

The nearby Rio Grande River (or “Paseo del Bosque”) Trail is dedicated to bicycle / pedestrian traffic, and winds lazily beneath old-growth cottonwood trees to myriad destinations along its 16 mile paved length. To the south, the trail connects directly to the city’s Zoo, Biological Park, Aquarium, and Tingley Beach (a newly-renovated civic campus with duck ponds, fishing, play areas, and other amenities). To the north, the trail winds through urban-agricultural land and notably provides access to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Park and the nearby Ballooning Museum.

Because of its expansive length, relatively flat terrain, sightseeing opportunities, and beautiful spring/summer/fall colors, this trail is a favorite spot for locals to exercise and ride bikes. In particular, weekend-morning bike rides followed by a delicious southwestern breakfast are famous (not to mention extremely enjoyable).

Albuquerque’s Paseo del Bosque Trail was recently named the top “City Bike Ride” in the country by Sunset Magazine.
