It’s that time of year again and we are so pleased with all the winners of Albuquerque’s 2013 Best of Burque from the Alibi.
For the past 20 years, a local favorite paper, the Alibi, has tabulated resident’s picks for the Best of – well, EVERYTHING (*except tours, but we’ll get to that later)!
Here are some of our favorite picks from the winners this year:
Best Bakery – Golden Crown Panaderia
Location: 1103 Mountain RD NW Albuquerque,NM 87102
Hours: Tues – Sat 7am-8pm, Sun – 10am-8pm, Closed Mon
Located just across the street, Routes bicycle rider’s know all too well the sweet scents of Golden Crown surrounding the neighborhood each morning. Their well known New Mexican Green Chile Bread is so good, people travel from all over the WORLD just to get some. And don’t even get me started on their empanadas… savory or sweet – they have what you are craving.
My top picks are the cherry empanadas and the blue corn crust pizzas. I also love the “welcome” biscochito when you walk in! After a long day of riding a Routes Bike, our customers enjoy their pizzas, sandwiches made with local ingredients (many grown right there at Golden Crown), and their many dessert offerings.
The best thing about this honor is the recognition and fact that the folks at Golden Crown are good people dedicated to our community. We couldn’t be more happy for our neighbors and dear friends at Golden Crown Panaderia!
Best Grower’s Market – Downtown Growers Market
We couldn’t agree more with other Burque residents; the Downtown Growers market is an event not to be missed, and you don’t have to considering the market runs 25 consecutive weeks!
Early risers can take advantage of all the fruits (and veggies) of many-a-farmer’s labor. But don’t stop there, this market has art, jewelry, clothing, skincare, and even bike accessories.
Looking for a little entertainment while loading up on all these goodies? The Downtown Grower’s Market has that too with weekly musical entertainment.
Load up your Routes’ bike with all the seasons’ freshest vittles, enjoy the music and events, and give back to the community all in one place, all before noon!
Another market not to be missed is the Corrales Grower’s Market, which got #2 on the Alibi’s Best Of, – but more on that market later.
There are many more amazing winners in the paper, and in the next weeks we will mention several more. But for now, here’s hoping that next year, the Alibi adds a new category for ‘Best Albuquerque Tours!‘ Enjoy the day, friends!
