- Private chocolate and gelato tasting with The Chocolate Cartel/Van Rixel Bros at their newest location, Cartel Cafe in Old Town
- And a special gift package from Routes and our partners
Set amongst 25 acres of lavender fields and lush gardens, the award-winning Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic Farm was recently named one of Fodor’s ‘Top 100 Hotels in the World’, and is one of the most prestigious historic properties in the Southwest. Designed in 1932 by famed architect John Gaw Meem, the “Father of Santa Fe Style,” the buildings feature agricultural-themed artwork by important New Mexico artists of the period. The grounds are also home to a wide range of animals, including several stunning peacocks. Gear up for your ride back to Routes with locally-made gelato (available for purchase at the Farm Shop).
Casa Rondeña Winery was lovingly established in late 1995 as a family undertaking, with the first plantings in 1990 at the hands of vintner John Calvin and his two young sons, Ross and Clayton. The Tasting Room opened in August 1997, and a winery building with a striking Tricentennial bell tower (pictured) was completed in Autumn 2004.
A new barrel aging and storage facility (including the popular ‘Founder’s Rotunda’) was added in 2008 in order to expand production capacity and to accommodate special events for winery club members and special guests. In 2010, Mr. & Mrs. Calvin moved out of the home they had built on the property and turned it into the luxurious ‘1629 Club’, a private facility/area available for use by winery club members. Today Casa Rondeña is Albuquerque’s most distinguished and picturesque winery & vineyard and has been honored with numerous local, national, and international awards.
